STAGE 1 – Defect Standard Creation

Cyberhawk’s experienced industry engineers create a defect standard document that can be based on either the client’s existing system or developed from scratch. This has a condition rating scale with an example image for each failure mechanism. This approach ensures defects are categorised to the client’s requirements and ensures consistency.

STAGE 2 – Data Capture 

Cyberhawk’s UAV inspection solution delivers comprehensive close visual inspection of 100% of all four surfaces on each blade. Data is collected quickly, for on average four to six turbines per day, reducing turbine down time as well as ‘at height’ working.

STAGE 3 – Inspection

At Cyberhawk’s inspection centres, teams of industry engineers use proprietary software to inspect, categorise and report on the size and location of defects on all four surfaces of the blade, in accordance with the agreed defect standard. Defects are measured to +/-5mm and accurately positioned from the leading edge and root.

STAGE 4 –  Reporting Matrix

UAV inspection of wind turbine blades generates thousands of high definition images and gigabytes of data. To allow our customers to efficiently use this data, we have developed a traffic light colour coded dashboard.  This provides an at a glance status of each wind farm and turbine blade to aid maintenance prioritisation.

STAGE 5 – iHawk Visualisation

Results are delivered in Cyberhawk’s proprietary cloud based iHawk inspection viewer, with the ability to download a traditional PDF report.
