Richard Round

Chairman

Richard has a successful track record in senior finance and leadership roles in a range of quoted and private companies. Most recently, he led the strategy and ultimate sale of hydro developer Green Highland Renewables. This followed his success in securing around £70 million of funding for the development of the Oyster wave power technology for Aquamarine Power. Prior to joining Aquamarine Power, Richard was Acting Chief Executive at quoted Novera Energy plc where he led the sale of the landfill gas, wind and hydro group. Richard has also held a number of finance director roles in the renewable, oil and gas service, coal and mining sectors with companies including Mining Scotland, Consolidated Supply Management, AIM-listed Anglo Asian Mining plc and Cambrain Mining plc.

Chris Fleming

CEO

Chris Fleming is recognised as a pioneer in the UAV inspection industry. Having personally carried out over 150 live flare inspections to date, he still leads field teams on the most technically challenging projects for Cyberhawk. As an offshore Inspection Engineer, Chris has spent the last 20 years working around the globe in Australia, Norway, the North Sea, the Middle East, Malaysia and Brunei. Prior to joining Cyberhawk, Chris specialised in FPSO operations with his last seven years on the Captain FPSO.

David McIntyre

CFO

David is an experienced Chief Financial Officer with a background in private equity backed companies, acquisitions, integrations and international expansion. Previously a Finance Director with Maintenance Management Ltd, and with experience working around the globe for companies including Diageo, Kwik-Fit Group and Thomson Reuters, he brings more than 30 years’ experience to the team. David offers a wealth of financial management experience, having worked with both multinational organisations and start-ups, and is an ICAS qualified Chartered Accountant.

Malcolm Connolly

Founder and Technical Director

Malcolm has over 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry in the field of inspection. Combined with an honours degree in Chemical Engineering, he has a broad perspective on both the access and process issues faced in the oil and gas sector and gives a unique insight into where UAVs can be deployed to the best advantage.

Philip Buchan

Commercial Director

Phil joined Cyberhawk in early 2010 as part of the founding management team and leads their business development. A Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a Master’s degree in structural engineering, he has researched and published papers on failure mechanisms of composite, concrete and steel structures. Phil has been at the forefront of introducing innovative UAV industrial inspection and asset management solutions in multiple sectors including upstream & downstream oil & gas, electricity transmission & distribution and thermal & renewable power generation.

Advisors to the board

Ian Marchant

Formerly the CEO of SSE plc, Ian is one of the leading figures in the UK energy sector. His current roles include Chairman at Wood Group plc, Non-Executive Chairman of Infinis plc, former Chairman of Scotland’s 2020 climate delivery group and President of the Energy Institute. Ian is also Chairman of Maggie’s Cancer Charity. A Chartered Accountant, Ian holds a BA in Economics from Durham University and Honorary Doctorates from Strathclyde and Heriot Watt University.

Paul Smith

 Paul is formerly the Managing Director of Generation at SSE Plc. He is currently non-executive chair of Capstone Power Corporation in Canada, a non executive board member of Scottish Water, a member of the Edinburgh University Business School International Advisory Board, Energy Institute Council Member and also an advisor to the Energy, Infrastructure and Asset Management industries. Paul is a graduate Chemical Engineer from Edinburgh University with an MBA from Henley Management College, and a Fellow of both the Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Energy Institute.

iHawk

Nick Stewart

CIO

Nick has a 15 year track record in IT and enterprise applications, successfully developing and delivering projects on geospatial data and data visualisation. He has also built applications for a range of banking and telephone companies as well as a mission planning system for NATO. Currently he leads the IT department in Cyberhawk and is responsible for the delivery of our industry leading asset management software, iHawk.

USA

Patrick Saracco

VP Technology Solutions

Patrick has extensive experience in the global oil and gas industry having worked for a number of technology focused service companies in this sector. His multilingual skills and extensive knowledge of the international energy sector put him in a strong position to understand the requirements of Cyberhawk’s global customers. Patrick is passionate about developing compelling inspection solutions that improve safety and deliver real value to our customers. He holds an MEng in Environmental Engineering, a Diploma in Surveying and is fluent in Italian and French.

 

Oil & Gas

Yi Xiang Wong

Inspection Manager

Xiang leads the Oil and Gas inspection team and carries out technically challenging inspections, including world firsts in coal-fired power plant furnace and cargo oil tanks within on-station FPSOs. Prior to joining Cyberhawk, Xiang was a Senior Integrity Engineer at Lloyd’s Register overseeing pressure systems of upstream production facilities on FPSOs in the North Sea. He holds an MSc in Corrosion Control Engineering, BEng in Mechanical Engineering, and is active in developing new inspection and asset management solutions.

Utilities & Infrastructure

Martin Campbell

Sector Head Utilities & Infrastructure

Martin leads Cyberhawk’s Utilities and Rail inspection teams, ensuring all data capture and reporting is completed successfully and to the highest possible standard every time. He has worked closely on iHawk, Cyberhawk’s cloud-based asset management tool throughout its development and leads the operational aspects of the iHawk platform. Martin started working with Cyberhawk in 2013, coming through the Graduate Program and has worked up to the Team Lead role.

Rodrigo Duarte

Inspection Manager

Rodrigo is a Chartered Engineer with over 13 years of experience in the energy market, having previously worked for a major UK utility company. Having started his career in the development of wind energy projects, he has since moved into transmission and distribution inspection and maintenance. Rodrigo has a strong background in maintenance management and condition based maintenance with an insight into the health and safety standards of the industry. He holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering and is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.

Stuart Thomas

Land Survey Manager

With 25 years’ experience working across the UK, USA and Australia, Stuart brings a wealth of knowledge of topographic surveying, 3D visualisation and volumetric analysis to Cyberhawk. He has worked extensively in the renewables, construction and waste management sectors. He leads our team of Land Surveyors and specialises in the acquisition of orthophotos and digital elevation models.

Aviation

Bruce Irving

Chief Pilot

With over 20 years’ experience operating remotely piloted aircraft, Bruce is one of the global innovators within this rapidly developing sector. He has pioneered inspection techniques in over 20 countries and achieved a number of world first inspections. His specialist flying techniques have been developed over 2000 commercial flights across four continents in some of the harshest environments in the world. He holds an Instructor rating which enables him to examine pilots of remotely operated aircraft on behalf of the UK Civil Aviation Authority. He has been providing instruction in advanced inspection techniques for over seven years which has resulted in significant advancements in industry practices.

Douglas Reid

Equipment Manager

Having served in the Royal Air Force for 15 years as a Electrical and Avionic Systems Technician, working across aircraft such as Typhoon, Tornado F3 and Nimrod MR2, Douglas has extensive technical experience and training. This knowledge is key to the effective management of Cyberhawk’s UAV and vehicle fleet. Through the introduction of a high availability maintenance model utilising corrective, preventative and scheduled maintenance techniques, Douglas ensures we have the tools to get the job done safely, every time.

Stuart McGlynn

Aviation Advisor

Stuart is the Aviation Advisor to Cyberhawk. He had a successful career in the Royal Air Force for 17 years as an Air Traffic Control Officer spanning operations, safety, training, and system development. Stuart is an accomplished aviation consultant and he has been supporting some of the world’s leading aviation firms and regulatory authorities since 2011. He provides significant support and leadership to the drone industry and is at the forefront of the development of industry standards and guidelines in the UK. He developed the first training standard for commercial drone operators in the UK and is a member of the Government’s working group promoting the growth and safe development of the drone industry. Stuart utilises his wealth of aviation experience and regulatory knowledge to ensure Cyberhawk has the correct permissions and safety case in place to support operations world-wide.

Iain Young

Operations Manager

Iain has over 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, predominantly within subsea inspection. As an offshore Inspection Engineer with a background in mechanical and electrical engineering, Iain was responsible for delivering pipeline inspection solutions worldwide including Middle East, Far East and USA. In his current role as Operations Manager, he is responsible for the overall delivery of Cyberhawk’s inspection services ensuring key personnel and equipment are in the right place at the right time, whilst exceeding customer expectations.

Euan

Inspection Engineer

Euan has a BEng in Mechanical Engineering with Honours and a Masters in Wind Energy Systems. He is a pro mountain biker – as the tradition goes with Cyberhawk employees- and runs a tropical sound system called ‘Strawberry Jam’.

Callum

Inspection Engineer

Callum has over six years’ experience in Subsea and Product development engineering with a Schlumberger company and holds a IEng, MIMechE and BEng in Mechanical Engineering with Management. He climbed Kilimanjaro in 6 days as well

Stuart

Proposals Engineer

With a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Stuart joined Cyberhawk almost straight from university. He’s an avid gamer and self-confessed tech geek, however it’s his third degree black belt in Kuk Sool Won that we’re most wary of.

Darren

Inspection Engineer

Darren is a specialist in projection mapping with a degree in Audio technology and multimedia. A pro in visual displays using interactive technology, he’s a whizz when it comes to our asset management software solution, iHawk.

Cathy

UAV PILOT

Our first female UAV pilot, Cathy is a climber/explorer (what’s with pilots and outdoor activities?). With experience working in Australia and Canada, she holds a BSc in creative computing and is an inspirational speaker…she’s always around to share her words of wisdom.

Bill

Inspection Engineer

Bill, a former Oxy Operations Engineer, has an MSc in Energy, Architectural Engineering, BEng in Mechanical Engineering and has also completed UAV inspections in North Sea, Middle East and Africa. Fluent in English, French and Kirundi, he knows how to shout for help in three different languages if he runs into trouble…..

Stuart

UAV PILOT

Stuart is a 3rd level UAV Pilot and a qualified wind turbine blade technician with experience onshore and offshore. A former British Army Sergeant, he is always on time and extremely organised.

Alec

UAV PILOT/ Inspection Engineer

Alec kills two birds with one stone – a BEng in Energy engineering with years inspection engineering experience and also a UAV pilot. When he isn’t flying our drones for clients, he can be found tearing up trails on his mountain bike.

Ian

Surveyor & UAV PILOT

A member of the land survey team, Ian has a HNC in civil engineering and a list of successful projects completed in South East Asia, Australia and Europe under his belt. Our very own David Attenborough, Ian has been known to save a rabbit’s life and rescue sheep while on site!

Ewan

Environmental Manager, Surveyor & UAV Pilot

Ewan has a BSc in Environmental Science and smashes the stereotype that men can’t multitask…just look at his job title. Ewan has travelled extensively around Asia, which probably explains his zen attitude.

Pete

UAV PILOT

With a HND in mechanical engineering, Peter is another of our pilots. He has years’ experience flying UAV’s offshore, completing projects globally. A keen paraglider, Peter is always smiling…maybe it’s to do with his constant adrenaline rush.

Andrew

Inspection Engineer

Andrew holds a Meng in Mechanical Engineering and spent time with the Royal Naval Reserves after graduating. He has also worked in a mechanical maintenance apprenticeship and enjoys going to the gym in his spare time.

Calum

UAV PILOT

One of our experienced offshore pilots, Calum is also a UAV pilot instructor who has completed offshore projects in the North Sea, Middle East, Asia and Africa. With a talent for photography and film, he is always sharing his latest photo gems, that is if he’s not breaking bones on his mountain bike…nine to be precise!

Inspection Engineer

Jamie is one of our CSWIP Plant Inspectors, with a background in both the design and integrity of offshore structures and degree in mechanical engineering and aeronautics. In his spare he can be found supporting his favourite football team…no matter the result.

Stephen

Inspection Engineer

An indoor climbing fanatic, Stephen holds a MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde. He also completed his master’s thesis in Mechanical Engineering in Gothenburg.

Tracy

Operations Assistant

Tracy is the backbone of the business, with a City and Guilds in Quality Assurance – almost everything will go through her hands. A mega fan of Lord of the Rings, no one ‘shall pass’ to the next project without her help.

Kieran

Inspection Engineer

Former onshore refinery project engineer with a MSc in Advanced Materials Engineering and failure investigation projects, Kieran is a fitness and weightlifting enthusiast. He competes daily in muscle power with our UAV pilot, Stuart.

Calum

Inspection Engineer

A former offshore drilling equipment engineer with a BEng in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, Calum is a car enthusiast with a passion for motorbikes – the Scottish weather definitely doesn’t deter him!

John

IT Technician

Cyberhawk wouldn’t be complete without its rock n roll band member! A network and infrastructure engineer by day with 10+ years’ experience in IT, John can be found playing in his Bluegrass band at night.

Niall

Inspection Engineer

Niall leads the iHawk wind management of projects and has years of inspection experience. With a MEng in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, he is an electronics hobbyist who likes to drive below the speed limit – some pilots find this slightly annoying!

Tony

Bid Manager

With a BA in Accounting, Tony is a former field and technical engineer from Baker Hughes. With four years’ experience working in the offshore oil and gas sector, he is an avid traveller and has been lucky to visit America, Europe and Africa.

Christopher

Proposals Engineer

Christopher holds MEng in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in advance materials engineering and energy systems. The best dressed Cyberhawk member by far! He is also a collector of rare fragrances and has a keen eye for presentation, which is hardly a surprise.

Sal

Inspection Engineer/ UAV Pilot

Sal is an ASME Plant Inspector with a BEng in Civil Engineering. He has completed offshore projects all over the world and is known to bust a funky dance move now and again, some of which make the cut to end up on Cyberhawk’s YouTube channel!

Martin

Inspection Engineer

We call him the stranger, because he is usually globetrotting between projects. A CSWIP Plant and TWI Weld inspector, Martin is qualified in flare and relief systems in oil and gas, and holds a BSc in Mechanical Design Engineering.

HR Assistant

With a HNC in Business studies and HND in HR Management, Kym has worked across the aviation and digital sectors for start-ups and multinational organisations. She loves nothing better than escaping the Scottish weather, visiting Spain as often as she can …so you know her tan is real.
